The FPL News you Might've Missed (05/06 - 12/06)

This is the week where withdrawals start to kick in. We feel it too.

The honeymoon phase has passed, and the part of you that thought "actually, my life is alright without FPL" grows quieter and quieter with each football-less day that passes.

Cold sweats, palpitations, that strange rash on your inner thigh that you've affectionately named "Marcus". For all that it tries, the Nations League cannot hope to quell these symptoms. You need the Premier League.

Well, next week you'll have fixtures: the first stitch in what will soon be a whole tapestry of footballing delight. If June 16th isn't in your diary yet, set it aside. Maybe take a day off work for it. The planning starts soon.

The transfer window opened on Friday. Here's what's happened:

The Stuff We Know 📢

- Nottingham Forest's play-off hero Brice Samba will not renew his contract with the club and wants to leave this summer. That could rule out a tasty-looking budget goalkeeper for next season, unless he joins another Premier League club.

- Fraser Forster has officially joined Spurs, leaving Southampton on a free.

- after a loan spell with Newcastle, Matt Targett has now signed for the Magpies, with the deal reported to be worth around £15m for Villa.

- having agreed personal terms, Leeds have officially signed RB Salzberg defender Rasmus Kristensen. The feeling from Leeds fans is that he will get plenty of game time.

- Liverpool have reached a "verbal agreement" with Benfica over the €80m signing of Darwin Núñez. Last season he scored - wait for this - 26 goals in 27 Liga appearances. Not too shabby. Apparently he's waiting for his flight to come to England...let's hope he's not flying with WizzAir, otherwise he might not make Gameweek 1.

The Rumour Mill 🗣

Herbivores beware: the following rumours are pretty meaty. Approach with caution.

- According to an in-the-know called Bruno Andrade (no relation to Richarlison, but the same guy who broke the Luis Diaz to Liverpool news), Richarlison is in "advanced negotiations" to join Spurs for a deal rumoured to be worth 60m euros. Would you be considering him if he plays regularly for the London side?

- The Daily Mail have reported that Gabriel Jesus has been "offered" to Chelsea, with Tuchel "also interested" in Raheem Sterling. Both players have a year left on their contracts.

- The Guardian reports that Arsenal have "won the race" to sign 19-year-old Marquinhos from Sao Paolo for around £3m. Not a done deal, but looks set to go through. Jesus remains their key target.

- right-back Djed Spence is set to sign for Spurs for £20m, according to multiple sources.

Extra news 📢

There's some extra stuff you should know this week. Here it is:

- Leandro Trossard scored two goals for Belgium in a 6-1 thumping against Poland last week. That's 3 goals in his last 170 minutes of international football for the Brighton man. Make of that what you will.

- Mo Salah won the men's PFA Player of the Year for the second season in a row. Is that harsh on Heung-min Son?

- speaking of the devil, Son scored a wonderful direct free-kick in South Korea's 2-2 draw with Paraguay. With Spurs failing to score a single free-kick last season, could he assume primary responsibilities?

Planning Ahead 🔮

Having kept our ear low to the ground this week, we've picked up some faint tremors. It looks like the game is launching on Wednesday 22nd June. The exact date that it launched last season. With the fixtures released next week, next Sunday's email will include some analysis on which teams have the best early-season match-ups. Naturally. We'll also bring you any updates on when we expect the game to be launched 👊

By the way, we launched our new website this week too. You can now read past issues on there, which is cool.

Also, our ambassador programme went live a few days ago, which means some of you were sent a unique sharing link. Thanks to everyone who has recruited their friends so far!
